West End Musical - The King and I 2018

Ken Watanabe is the main reason I watch the West End musical, The King and I. I first got to know him from The Last Samurai movie. It's quite interesting to see that he is now playing the King in such epic musical.

I love the humorous lines in the musical, such as et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, everything has to be scientific, and Anna is a puzzlement for the King. Also, the costumes are beautiful. The set is amazing. The singing and dancing are excellent. I love the way Kelli O'Hara played Anna. She is American, but her portrayal as an English lady is brilliant. This West End production is a replica of The King and I musical film in 1956.

I have enjoyed the first half of the musical compared to the second half. The dancing where Tuptim was coordinating a theatre for the palace party is nice. However, I found that the whole section is a bit too long. I wish that section is shortened so that they could fit in more interactions between the King and Anna, e.g., longer dancing time, or put on a scene where a grand ballroom dancing. Also, I wish that the actors and actresses who play the Thai characters can speak more in Thai accent (as long as it is understandable by the English speaking audience) rather than westerners accent. Thai language is a beautiful language and has its unique tone. It would be more beautiful if this element is embedded in the play.

Regarding the London Palladium theatre, the stall center seats are the best seats to see the stage. It is a musical worth seeing and one of the better ones I have seen in London.

PS: I can't help visualising Chow Yun-Fatt who played the King in Anna and The King film (1999). Ken Watanabe is great, and it could be quite nice to see Chow Yun-Fatt trying out this role on stage ;)

Arcade Girl – London Independent Film Festival

First of all, many congratulations to Director Tze Hao Wong (Kel Wong) that his short film being shortlisted for the London Independent Film Festival. I couldn’t be more proud for his hard work and his perseverance for pursuing the dreams in film directing.

As an audience and somebody who knows Kel for such a long time, the short film has demonstrated Kel's very unique style in directing - spooky, comedy and unexpected / surprising outcome. I especially like the story telling through actions and I thought he has brought out the message of the film through different objects. I guess this is the semiotics in film making :) I wish Kel all the very best for winning the awards. And my best wishes also go to the film makers who have submitted their work to the festival.

Sex and the city 2

Finally got a chance to watch Sex and the city 2! Absolutely love it!

Some people told me that it isn't as great as the first one! I think I have to disagree. I think it is as good as the first one!

The idea of taking Abu Dhabi as a location set is great! It gives more spices to the movie! And it does touch a bit about the muslim ladies. I feel that even though they have to cover up, still they can be fashionable.

Overall, I think Samatha rocks the whole movie! For those who already watched this movie, you probably wont forget what she said to the girl in boutique when she was trying to get a younger dress 'I am fifty F***ing two and I'll still rock this dress!' Honestly, I won't have the guts to say so if i were 52. Ha! It is good to see Carrie, Miranda the lawyer and Charlotte...It is just great!

Not forgetting the guys...It is always great to see the guys again like Aidan, Smith, Mr Big, and Steve...Remember the time when I was watching the series, Aidan is kinda guy I adore...caring, a good listener..and he loves Carrie..Hehe! I like Smith because of his love to Samatha..very classy!

Then the gay wedding..the Irish woman who never wear bras...the new rules to the marriage couple etc...leave me a deep impression. Ha!

I love it! and i believe that girls shall watch the series and the movies! Probably guys too...it may get you to know more about woman :D

The Holiday 恋爱假期

我想我看这部戏也看了N次.这部恋爱假期也可说是我看那么多爱情喜剧里其中一部我最喜欢的电影.

除了有很强的CAST,我个人很喜欢Cameron Diaz,故事大纲很好,演员也不错,导演真的有把整部戏的情感给带了出来..最重要的是我觉得整部戏的情感都很ngam我的feel!

记得第一次看,是一个人在电影院看..看完后,自己偷偷掉泪了..因为觉得很感动..原来爱情可以是那么美好的..

有一次看,那时已经是将近跟男友(现在已经是前男友)分手,觉得自己跟戏中的Amanda很像,那时一直鼓励自己LDR是可以work 的..

又有一次看,那时已经分手了..就觉得说为何他不给大家多一点时间想个解决方法..后来才懂他已经不爱我了..所以看完后,觉得Amanda很幸福,希望自己可是有个像Graham那样的男友..

刚刚又看了..这次不再觉得自己像戏里任何角色..不过换来的是过去一年的反思，我才发现我足足用了一年多的时间让自己想通了一些事情，，也更明白<<平常心>>和<<顺其自然>>的道理！

Tramllines Sheffield 2010

I was in Tramllines festival this weekend. This is my first time attending a festival in UK. What a cool experience!

Tramllines festival started from Friday until Sunday. It is a free entry festival. At first, we thought it may be shit as it is free, in fact, we found it quite good. Therefore, if you miss Tramllines festival this year, make sure you come next year.

I made it to the Friday and Saturday ones. Decided to get back to Reading earlier and forgo the Sunday festival activities as I just realised I have damn loads of work to catch up.

I like what my friend is saying, you seemed like enjoying quite a lot during your master study. I said, of course! Work hard and play harder. This is always Chek’s way of living life. I will feel bad if I can’t reward myself after some hard work.

Right, back to the festival! Ha!

We went to three bars and saw some gigs on Friday. Saturday was the main day for the festival and the weather was great! Sun spelled almost the whole afternoon although there were a few drops towards the late afternoon.

Triumph in the skies 冲上云霄

I just finished re watching this series <<Triumph in the skies 冲上云霄>>, a 2003 production from TVB, tells story about life of pilots and flight attendants who work for Solar Airway and creates awareness of aviation.

The making of triumph in the skies:

I like the casts very much, especially Francis Ng, Flora Chan and Joe Ma. I especially like the love story between Sam and Zoe & Vincent and Belle... The love stories, the fate game and the rest of stories are just nice and love the scenes they took from Rome.

The thing that surprises me the most is I teared a lot while watching this series. When it showed the scene in Rome, I just couldn't help thinking about my past in Rome... I knew I already moved on...but every moment of me and my ex was still very clear in my mind. We went to Trevi Fountain and I made a wish. Unfortunately, my wish never come true and in fact, it ended up in an awful way. However, I never blame or being hatred. Because I believe in fate. If two people are not destined together, no matter how much effort we put on, still, we will be separated.

I was making my wish...

I believe in fate. You may find me silly. Although I have a few fail relationships, still, I believe I will find the right person some day in my life..Someone who will take care of me for the rest of my life.. In fact, I am doing affirmation about it every night before I sleep. Haha. May my love will come true... :)

Ice Kacang Puppy Love 初恋红豆冰

Got to know about this Malaysian local production film from facebook. Quickly watched the trailer on youtube. What shall I say? I feel proud for Malaysian celebrity.

It is definitely a good movie for oversea Chinese to know more about Malaysian Chinese life. Watching the trailer itself triggers loads of memories and reminds me how I was brought up. And the very typical Malaysian dessert - Ice Kacang.

Directed by A Niu, Starring by A Niu, Li Xin Jie, Fish Leong, Gary Cao, Victor Wong, Eric Moo, Yi JieQi and some of Malaysian big celebrities.

Hot Summer Days 全城热恋

What a long week. Busy with class and assignments. Shits happen as well. Something to do with my ex again. Rubbish but am cool.

As Friday is always my movie day, therefore, I just picked up this movie and watched it. Heard loads of good review about this movie before this. Quite enjoying it. Very Chinese style of love story, pure, simple and nice.

This movie talks about five different love stories.Love the part from Maggie Cheung (although it is short), and the part between Rene Liu and Jacky Cheung.

After watching this movie, I feel that love can happen anytime if you are not being cynical. Sometimes it is not a bad idea to just follow your feeling and wait for the right one. Nothing much you can do but just wait :)

假结婚－The Proposal

看完了这部电影，没什么特别感觉，故事剧情一般，只是觉得爱情真的可以是一样很奇妙的东西。戏中男女主角认识三年，但是在三天就擦出爱火。

会看这部电影，因为我是 Sandra Bullock 的粉丝。在戏中，没怎样看到她的演技，只是觉得她真的有点老了，但是还是一样的迷人。或许这就是中年女人的吸引力。

如果你周末没事做，不妨轻松一下，观赏这小品。

Both book and movie are great still I think book is greater.

I think it will be good if they can put in the crucial plots like when Amir was emitted to hospital, how he build up the relationship back with Sohrab, the difficulties Amir faced to get Sohrab to Americaa and Sohrab commited suicide. These scene involved a lot emotions and I believe that it will be great if it is shown in the movie.

灯光，舞台，演员，歌唱，舞蹈，电脑特技，剧本，服装等都一级棒。观众边看边鼓掌，载歌载舞，包括我在内。结束的时候观众们站起来鼓掌较好！我觉得花了£31。5(马币大概RM200)真的值得。

It is a great musical. The combination of lighting, stage, casts, dancing, songs, animations, props, scripts, costume etc is all great! Audience (including me) is overjoyed with the show. The show ended with the crowd stand up clapping and dancing. It is definitely worth watching show (although it costs me about RM200) £31.5 in total!

Monkey: Journey to the West

Brought my parents to watch the Monkey: Journey to the West Opera in The O2 (Nearest Tube Station: North Greenwich) today.

The opera was great, what a combination of the west and east. Several factors of combination:
- The opera was in Mandarin with English subtitle
- The music was composed with Western and Eastern Musical Instruments.
- The opera was in Western Musical style but communicated in Mandarin

The amazing part was the Chinese Acrobatic Stunt...and of course the graphic animation and props. The part I like the most is the Buddha's Palm. When Sun Wu Kong (Great Sage) was too mischievous and he was punished by the Buddha and trapped under the Buddha's palm. The turning of Buddha's Palm, the Buddha's status and props were great in visual.

And most important is the ticket price is worth. Ticket bought was only 10 quid per person. :)
