Four 'Anak Malaysia' in Bristol

Apparently, these four 'Anak Malaysia' (means Malaysian in Malay Language) just got to know each other.

The relationship:

Chek n Mei -> Friend (know her for a few months)
Chek n Yao -> Friend (only know him for 3 days)
Mei n Annie -> Friend (know each other the longest)
(Mei n Annie) n Yao -> Hmmm, just know each other on the day they met..
Chek n Annie -> Friend (heard about her a few weeks ago but only meet in person for a day)

Attractions:

Temple Mead Station

St Mary Redcliffe Church

Bristol Cathedral

City centre and Harbourside

Avon Gorge Viewpoint

Suspension Bridge

ss Great Britain

See the pictures below, I am glad that all of us actually getting along quite well..
Guess it is because we four can speak Mandarin plus at least three dialects: Hokkien, Cantonese and Hakka (I cannot speak Hakka)
If you are with us, probably you will see how 'Dai Lou' (Big brother) Yao switches dialect like the Customer Services IVR.
It is fun though!

Gam Ngam (Coincidentally) these two are born in the year of Monkey, just different cycle..

Of course not forgetting my signature jump :)

Lunch time at YumYum Thai.

I am having green curry chicken. The price is very 'dai dou lan' (very worthwhile)
Green Curry Chicken+ rice = £ 5.95
Bowl is small but full with dice chicken breast....
So if you like thai food, perhaps you shall consider eating here..

Very 'Malaysian' jokes of the day:
Apparently Dai Kah Cheh Annie is matching the places to what we have in Malaysia. Ha!

Avon Gorge View -> Batu Kapur in Ipoh

Bristol Harbour -> Perlabuhan Klang

Me & Mei. This is my favorite picture! Thanks 'Dai Lou' (big brother) Yao for photographing!

Completed 0.5 peak out of 3 peaks challenge

This is my first time camping in UK (Yorkshire Dale). Thanks SJ for tagging me along :p

A night before. Simple barbecue. Single use disposal barbecue tray. First time seeing it though. Thanks to SW for bringing it :)

Horrible face!

Our tents

I find this tent is quite interesting!

First stop, having my ‘brunch’ in Pen-y-Ghent café, ‘a pint mug’ coffee, 2 croissants and a book with me.

Start having fun by taking pictures of myself by setting the self timer of my camera.

My camping equipment. A Tesco plastic bag with 2 croissants, 500ml water, a broly, and a book. In fact, an old man keeps calling me the girl with a tesco plastic bag :S

I was on the way hiking up to Pen-y-Ghent. Honestly I had no plan to do hiking that day. I was actually with my friends. They were hiking with their company mates. I clearly understood that I wasn’t fit enough for this hiking, so I decided to stay on my own, enjoying the sun and peace. I had no idea how I found the hiking route. So I decided to take videos as a memoir of Chek doing her first hiking on her own.

Done with my self reflection! Feel happy!

Mission accomplished!

I have a good weekend though. I consider it as another breakthrough for myself. I never do hiking on my own. Moreover, I don’t have any right equipment with me, no map, no compass, no clue etc. However, I enjoy the peace along the hiking journey.

I do self reflection when I was arrived at the half peak. What I shall conclude is we will never know our potential until we really push for it. My friends said that sometimes I may be too harsh for myself. Yes, I do! My philosophy is simple. I cannot have expectation on anything or anyone but myself. That is the only way to keep pushing me further.

Do check more pictures on my facebook! :)

World Cup 2010

I am glad that World Cup 2010 is officially starts today.

This event is as big as the Olympics. I remembered the first time I was watching and analysing the football match result was in 1998 and I was 16. And now I really miss my dad coz I used to watch football with my dad.

In fact, I quite like the theme song of world cup 2010. Especially the original version of Wavin' Flag.

The Fresh Food Festival

I went to The Fresh Food Festival in Oracle Reading yesterday. I popped down for the afternoon session for a bit after having coffee with my friend (Suzie) then went again for the evening jazz session with a Malaysian lady I just met a few weeks ago (Mei).

I guess there are still a lot more festivals here during summer. It is like the same that we have back in Malaysia. We call it '歌台' (koh tai) like a stage performance when we have some Chinese celebrations going on.

Performances at the High Street in the afternoon

Out of all the evening acts, I guess this Bar Flair Show was my favorite. The jazz music was alright. But I think the 'The Matt Fripp Jazz Trio' could be performing better. They were good, just I don't really have the jazz feeling when they were playing, especially the saxophonist.

Overall, I was having a good time there :)
