Mini Country Break? Definitely!

It all started that we failed to book a room in the hotel we usually stayed for one evening.

We were told that we were booked into Dog and Patridge hotel. Apparently there were two Dog and Patridge hotel at Burton, with another one with the ‘Country Inn’ in it. So we went to a wrong hotel, feeling a bit embarrassed, then took a cab that cost us £30 per way! Thanks to my colleague who bargained with the cab driver, if not, we would have paid £35. So the one we actually booked in was Dog and Patridge Country Inn, which is about 35-40 min drive from the office.

Despite of the hassle, I managed to have a bit of fun at the children playground :)

Ok, a little bit of review here..

Rooms – Rates are good. We paid £65 per person a night with breakfast, accommodation and dinner inclusive. Room is pretty standard and equipped with necessities. Maybe I was the unlucky ones; my shower was running out of hot water in the middle of the night. I had quite a good first half shower, but had to shower in cold water afterwards. I had a pretty sensitive nose, that’s why I kept sneezing when I prepared my bed.

This is pretty impressive as they have many TV channels available. The hotel I usually stay only have a few...

Meals – it is me who don’t really adapt to the traditional British food. I couldn’t finish my main course. I felt a bit bad that I only took a few spoons of the paella. At least I finished my fruit desert

Starter: Mushroom soup

Main: Chicken and Prawn Paella

Serving together with main. Now you understand why I couldn't finish my meal :)

Curry ordered by my colleague

Customer Service – five stars. People in the cottage were friendly and always willing to help :)

All and all, it was quite a good mini break at the country side though… Just that this morning when I back to office, I felt absolutely knackered..haha..Also, to the future travellers, make sure you don’t book yourself to a wrong hotel. One is Dog and Patridge at Tutbury, and another one is Dog and Patridge Country Inn at Ashbourne.

Jess, it is miles away from Reading. Best you go to a country side nearer to Reading ^^
